Boys Boys Boys

How do you deal with them? Why can talking to them be harder than talking to your gal pals? How do you know if they like you? You, like you? How do you tell them that you like them? How often do they need to be fed? Do you need to walk them? How often should you take them to the vet?

WHY ARE BOYS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND????

Today we take a moment to part from my usual posts about fashion and music, and get down to the knitty-gritty of every average 17-year-old girl's life. Today, we talk about the boy problem.

Listen, I am only human. And sometimes, humans make other humans go crazy. For me, the humans that make me lose my mind the most frequently are boys. Boys boys boys.

Okay not all boys. I have plenty of platonic guys friends who I can talk to about anything, some of whom are my best friends! But it's the non-platonic ones that really get me. Like what to you do with them? Okay no I don't mean it like that, I mean what do you say? How do you act? And what happens if they don't "like" you back?

I'll answer all three: whatever you want, however you want, and absolutely nothing.

Honestly the best way to talk to a boy you like is the same way you talk to any other person. It's fine to drop hints that you may like than in a lil' differnt way than you like most people, but you don't need to stress about every word or text you send their way. They're human too you know! They just want to be treated as such.

I know how hard it can be to keep your cool around a guy you like; believe me, I am probably the absolute worst at it. But honestly if you're constantly freaking out when you're around a guy, that can be really quite frightening for them. I mean imagine if each time you went to talk to someone they spazzed out and differntly from how they treated everyone else - you'd be weired out right?! Exactly. So why would you put someone else through that?

Now, what happens if they guy you like doesn't like you back? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. You may be sad for a while, you may be mad for a while, you may even cry, but the world will keep on turning. You may feel like your world is tumbling down around you, but stop and think of the big picture -

There are literally billions of other boys out there. Trust me, you'll find another one. If things don't work out with a boy then it's probably for good reason - either it just wasn't meant to be, or he's too stupid realize how incredible you are. Either way, you don't need that girl. Get on up and move right along.
