Fashion is so much friggin' fun you guys. From shopping, to browsing outfits on Tumblr, to watching your fave celebs strut it on the red carpet, clothes are so exciting!! It can be even more fun to actually create you own fashion.
Recently I've gotten into sketching my own clothing designs with a cool app I got on my iPad called "Sketchbook". Now I'm no artist, but I thought sketching my own clothes could be fun, and boy was I right!
The selection of clothes in this post is from what I call my "Cobalt Collection", the namesake from the fact that I LOVE the color cobalt and tried to creatively incorporate it in each article of clothing. Hope you enjoy looking at each design as much as I enjoyed making it!

I've been really digging the whole matching separates trend lately, so I decided to take my own spin on it! This light and colorful combo is perfect for spring, keeping you warm in its chunky knitted material but still cool due to its short length and bare midriff. If you're looking for a way to say "hello" to spring, here is the perfect greeting!

Here I wanted to design a formal gown with more of an edgy look. The geometric structures protruding from the gown add a ton of dimension to the look and is sure to turn heads. The ribbed texture of the fabric adds yet another layer of uniqueness to the dress.

This cute little number is another open-armed greeting to slightly warmer weather. While not ideal for the "spring" that comes to my home in Texas, it would swimmingly for the spring the East Coast is used to. This coat is a nice nod to the numbers in MaxMara's line that deputed this past Milan Fashion Week. I spiced up my version my keeping the coat shorter, pairing it with some knee-high grey suede boots, and of course, a touch of cobalt blue.

Here I began playing with the idea of prints. I tried to incorporate my initials (CW) into a fun and funky pattern. The bright monochromatic pallet really contrasts the rest of my collection where I use some less aggressive tones. This fun little number is a great swap for the typical little black dress - why stick to black when you go blue!

This mod look is a groovy throwback to the 1960s, but with a modern twist. The grey color really classes up the dress, and the cut out gives sexy edge while still leaving something to the imagination.

This is my absolute favorite formal gown that I have designed thus far. The skirt of the gown is made from layer and layers of alternating blue and nude tulle, and the bodice is crafted from the same fabric constructed into squares of all shapes and sizes. Each square has a single line of cobalt blue thread running across the bottom to of course tie it in with the rest of the collection.

To finish us off, here I have a number I custom designed for one of my dear friends Lennie per her request. The cobalt sleeveless knitted turtleneck crop top is paired with a black quilted scuba skirt. If you look really closely, you can see the skirt has some deep blue detailing to accent the quilting. I rounded off the outfit with a pair of black knee high boots to give the whole thing a sassy, flirty feel.
Thanks for reading you guys! Hope you enjoyed my sketches of The Cobalt Collection. Maybe one day we'll see these designs go from my notebook to the runways of New York!
