Every year, Pantone releases a color of the year that is sure to inspire fashion and spark trends across the globe. This year, the color company released not one, but two fascinating colors: rose quartz and serenity. The soft pink and pale blue combination is a match made in heaven. Though the combo is the color of the year for 2016, both have been seen all over pop culture in the past. Let's take a look some examples of this amazing color match in fashion, pop culture, and nature!
Dior has been utilizing this fabulous color combination for some time now, from their decor and advertisements, to their new ankles boots that became incredibly popular this year. These shoes were seen on the feet of many, including Kylie Jenner at the recent Spring/Summer 2016 New York Fashion Week.

This gorgeous color combo can of course also be found in nature! The first artist was Earth herself, so naturally we'd find this striking combination in the most raw, untouched locations. On the left, we have an incredible image of Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument in Montana. The setting sun blends seamlessly with the coming blue evening sky, and coats the landscape in a wash of cozy pink and blue. On the right, one of the most fascinating exhibits of Earth's artistic abilities manifests itself in this sample of rose quartz forming in natural rosettes. Simply beautiful.
Human artists have also combined their efforts with nature to craft some moving pieces displaying rose quartz and serenity at work. Joa Stenning paints her rendition of a beautiful mountain range in her painting "Farnese Early Morning", shaping clouds from pink and blue hues. Sailor Moon captured the beauty of sunset in this still from the series. The soft pink radiance of the setting sun washes the city in pink tones and creates a reflective purple-ish blue glow.
And of course this color combo can be found all over music and remix culture. In this fan remake of Zayn Malik's cover of The FADER magazine, rose quartz and serenity were used in more of a bright tone and give the work a pop feel. Similarly, Drake used rose quartz pretty aggressively in his artwork for the single Hotline Bling. Both examples give the color combo a really upbeat and spunky feeling, and bring a ton of energy to the piece.
Where have you seen rose quartz and serenity this year? Where do you hope to see it in the coming years? Personally, I can't wait to see how it influences fashion and music in the coming seasons. Let's see where Pantone's Colors of the Year take us!
