New Years Resolutions

Now I know what you're thinking - New Years resolutions? Seriously? Who ever even follows through with those? But listen, hear me out.

I think it's important to always set tangible goals for yourself, things that are realistic and within your reach that will truly help you become a better person. If you're not striving to be better, then what's the point? Now I'm not saying that everyone should go out of their way to write down a physical list of resolutions; that may not work for every individual. However, personally, I've found that when I put things into writing, there is a much higher likelihood that I'll actually follow through on that promise to myself. And then I figured, hey, if I tell the whole internet about my resolutions, then I'll definitely follow through, right? Well anyways, here's hoping.
1. Get a job. College is tough kids, and your girl needs some mulla. This first semester I held off on the job search because personally, the adjustment to college life was stressful enough as it was. But this semester, I've got to get some cash flowing.
2. Write on my blog more! I am so in love with writing about pop culture, fashion, and lifestyle trends. I think I've finally found an outlet for expressing my interests and opinions that I can really attach to. Whenever I post on my blog, I feel happier, so why not post all the time?

3. Drink more water! Hi, my name is Chrissy and I am a soda addict. I know, it's sad, but true. Dr. Pepper is my vice. This year, I'm going to do my best to drop the soda can and grab the water bottle.
4. Get more involved at school. This past semester, I was really only involved in two clubs - Wharton Women and The Walk Magazine. While both of these are amazing organizations, I want to do more! I hope to join clubs like Wharton Retail and The Fashion Collective in the coming months.

5. Go to more concerts! When I was in Austin, attending a show in the park at Blues on the Green or catching the latest rapper at Emo's were some of my favorite pastimes. Now that I'm in Philly, I haven't gotten the chance to see as many concerts as I'd like. This year, I'd like that to change.
6. Eat more fruit. Okay this sounds dumb, but truly it is so hard for me to eat fruit in college. The dining hall fruit can look a tad unappealing at times, and buying good fruit can be pricey! Nevertheless, I plan to budget to buy a fresh supply of fruit each week to keep my vitamin levels in check and live a healthier life.
7. Visit New York and Connecticut! Now that I live up north, it is so much easier to visit my family in Connecticut and take fun trips to New York with my friends! Unfortunately, I didn't carve out the time this first semester to visit either place. This year, I'm definitely visiting both!

8. Go to the gym. Okay this is probably the most cliché resolution on this list, but hey, maybe I'll actually get around to it this year.
9. Watch more cult classic films! I took a film history class this semester and I realized just how many amazing movies I've been missing out on! I plan to catch up on a few this year.
10. Volunteer more. It is so important to give back to your community. I am really fortunate to be where I am today, and I shouldn't take that for granted. I plan to volunteer at an afterschool program at an elementary near my university in the coming year.
There you have it! My ten resolutions for the year 2016. So no, this isn't a "new year, new me" type of thing. It's a "new year, same me, but better" type of thing. There's always room in your life to become a better version of yourself, and this year, that's exactly what I plan to do. Till next time pals!
